Home > WelcomeWelcome Message

I would love to welcome all fellow chemists and participants to
the 126th General Meeting of the Korean Chemical Society (KCS) at the Suwon Convention Center.

Due to COVID-19, the 126th General Meeting of the KCS will be virtually held on October 19-21 with limited access to the Suwon Convention Center.

The KCS has made continuous efforts to promote ‘Chemistry’ to the societies in Korea, especially through the General Meetings of the KCS. At the 126th General Meeting of the KCS, Professor Jacqueline K. Barton (John G. Kirkwood and Author A. Noyes Professor of Chemistry) at California Institute of Technology will deliver the Plenary Lecture entitled “DNA-Mediated Signaling through Redox Chemistry”. In addition, we will discuss the topic on “The Future is Already Here: Advancing Frontiers in Chemical Research” through the international symposium. In this international symposium, Professor Kimoon Kim (POSTECH), Professor Sukbok Chang (KAIST), Professor Dongho Kim (Yonsei University), Professor Wonwoo Nam (Ewha Womans University), and Professor Jinwoo Cheon (Yonsei University) will present their research outcomes/directions and provide insight into how we can advance our chemical research.

Moreover, Professor Yong Rok Lee at Yeungnam University will receive the 2020 Taikyue Ree Academic Award from the KCS and give a lecture. There are also several exciting and stimulating academic presentations in ten chemistry divisions. The richness of these chemistry activities will be fruitful to all participants.

I wish all of the KCS members and participants to enjoy this General Meeting of the KCS.

Ok-Sang Jung

President of the Korean Chemical Society
