Home > WelcomeWelcome Message

I would love to welcome all fellow chemists and participants to
the 127th General Meeting of the Korean Chemical Society (KCS) at the Suwon Convention Center.

Due to COVID-19, the 127th General Meeting of the KCS will be virtually held on April 21-23 with limited access to the Suwon Convention Center.

The KCS has made continuous efforts to promote ‘Chemistry’ to the societies in Korea, especially through the General Meetings of the KCS. At the 127th General Meeting of the KCS, Prof. Nathanael S. Gray (Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard Medical School / Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, USA) will deliver the Plenary Lecture entitled “Protein degradation as a new drug discovery approach”.

In addition, we will discuss the topics on “New trends and developments in organic synthesis” through the SRC symposium (Organizer: Prof. Cheon-Kyu Cho) and on “Frontiers in nanoparticles chemistry and their applications” through IBS symposium (organizer: Prof. Taeghwan Hyeon). Excellent experts will present interesting topics on “Mass spectrometry: beyond routine analysis” and provide insight into how we can advance our chemical research.

Moreover, Professor Sang Kyu Kim at KAIST will receive the highest academic award from the KCS, “2021 Academic Excellent Prize”, and give a lecture. There are also several exciting and stimulating academic presentations in many chemistry divisions. The richness of these chemistry activities will be fruitful to all participants.

I wish all of the KCS members and participants to enjoy this spring General Meeting of the KCS.

Ok-Sang Jung

President of the Korean Chemical Society
