KCS

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great honor and pleasure to welcome all my fellow chemists and participants to the 131st General Meeting of the Korean Chemical Society (KCS) to be held at the Suwon Convention Center from Apr 26 (Wed) to 28 (Fri), 2023. As we enter the post-pandemic era, I believe this KCS meeting will serve as a great opportunity for Korean and international scholars from all branches of chemistry to gather and discuss new advances and innovations made in the field of chemistry.

I am pleased to announce that joint plenary lectures will be given by the Editors-in-Chief of two prominent journals, Professor Teri W. Odom (Nano Letters) and Professor Xiaodong Chen (ACS Nano), at the 131st General Meeting of the KCS. They will discuss “Nanoparticle Shape Effects on Nano-Bio Interactions” and “Conformal Nano-Bio Interfaces for Sense Digitalization”. In addition, Professor Minhaeng Cho of Korea University will give an award lecture, entitled “Pure Dephasing, Quantum Decoherence, and Wave-particle Duality”, as the recipient of this year’s KCS Academic Excellence Award.

In this KCS meeting, we have prepared several exciting academic programs and exhibition events. There will also be a variety of special programs and social activities, including a tutorial session on 'Writing Scientific Papers in English' and Computational Chemistry. I am also excited to announce the ACS Publication Summit entitled 'Post-pandemic Transformations and Challenges in Materials Chemistry and Nanoscience.' In this special symposium, eight distinguished editors of ACS journals will give lectures and interact with participants of this meeting. It is my sincere hope that everybody will get the most out of these events.
